Preparing for your Tattoo
If your like me - you’re a planner. Use this as a guide to help you feel informed and well prepared for your tattoo appointment with me. Some tips on how to feel your best through out and what you can expect of me and the shop while you’re with us. We’re going to have the best time !
I will check in with your through out the process to see how you are feeling. If you need to take a washroom or stretch break please let me know - I probably need a stretch as bad as you do!
If there is anything else you need while your at the shop that will make you more comofortable let me know and I’ll do my best to accommodate!
My current rate is : $300 / day as of July 1, 2026
I do my consultations through email and require a $100 deposit to book your spot. This deposit will come off the cost of your tattoo. Before your appointment I will email you the design, which I will fine tune with your feedback. I greatly appreciate any changes you want to make to your design are communicated at least 2 days before your appointment. Requests for changes the day of your appointment may result in rescheduling, because I am committed to giving your redesign the attention it deserves.
You will find “Off the Porch Tattoos” at 1725 Cowichan Bay Road in Cowichan Bay. We’re down the little alleyway next to the bakery. If you fall in the water, you’ve gone too far.
Always make sure to come to your tattoo appointment well rested, fuelled up, hydrated and solo, please. We ask all of our guests to respect the intimate setting of our shop that allows us to give our clients the privacy and enjoyable experience they deserve. Also, it is never a bad idea to moisturize the area we will be tattooing daily for 2 weeks prior to your appointment. Hydrated skin makes the tattoo process (and healing) a lot smoother.
We always take our time choosing the tattoo size, placement etc. I never want to rush any decisions for either of us. Once we’ve got a good placement and the stencil is on we will let it marinate for 15 minutes to make sure it’s good and stuck on there. Now its time to start tattooing!
Right now, because I’m still in the early phases of my career, I find it extremely helpful for my creative brain to put my headphones on when I’m tattooing. I would really LOVE to talk to you, but then it’s the battle of the wits in my brain with customer service Leah and artist Leah. And nobody wants that. You are absolutely allowed to talk to me and let me know if you need anything. At some point I will emerge from my headphones like a beautiful butterfly.
Being an apprentice my speed can sometimes be unpredictable and feeling rushed is no bueno for my brain. I always want to give you the absolute best tattoo and that translates to letting things take the time they take. Because of this, I am offering $300 day rate so you are getting the best value of your tattoo time.
I will always send you home with aftercare instructions (or email them to you). The aftercare instructions are also on my website under the “aftercare” page. Emailing me is never bothersome and I encourage you to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Top notch customer service is incredibly important to me.
Now you have a rad piece of art on your body and I am so incredibly grateful for you trusting me as your artist. Thanks for letting me do my thang and supporting my art :)
